Please carefully review the following information to learn about all the great deals available to spay/neuter your pets! Options available to everyone: 1. Baton Rouge Spay Neuter (BRSN), located next to Associated Veterinary Services (AVS) in Baton Rouge. For more information and prices, please visit their website at http://brsn.org/ or call 225-218-1296. 2. Project Purr (www.projectpurrbr.org/) issues cat spay/neuter certificates for use at participating veterinarians; suggested co-pays $25 male/$35 female. To sign up, email projectpurrbr@yahoo.comand put spay/neuter in the subject line. Additional choices for those with financial need, rescuers, and feral caretakers: Spay Baton Rouge (Dogs and cats; East Baton Rouge Parish residents only) Apply online at http://www.spaybatonrouge.org/online-application Dogs: CAAWS offers a limited number of free female dog spays; the first 5 qualifying applicants each month will receive them. You may request an application by email at caawsmail@yahoo.com ; put “Free Dog Spay Application” in the subject line. Cats: 1. Both BRSN (see above) and Azalea Lakes Veterinary Clinic (225-755-3838) in Baton Rouge will spay/neuter feral cats; you may contact either clinic directly to schedule. You can also go through Project Purr (see above). CAAWS Feral TNR (trap-neuter-release) program assists residents and business owners having problems with multiplying feral/stray cats. The program is free,although donations are greatly appreciated to help keep the program going. Loan traps are available with refundable security deposit; contact caawsmail@yahoo.com . 2. LSU Spay Day is offered one Sunday a month; fee includes spay/neuter, ear tip if needed, 3-in-1 vaccination, and rabies shot for cats and kittens over 3 months. For feral and stray cats, low-income families, and those who take in stray cats/kittens. By appointment only; schedule through CAAWScaawsmail@yahoo.com or Cat Haven cathaven@cathaven.org . 3. CAAWS Low Cost/Free Spay-Neuter: Offered to low-income families by application; approval required. Fee includes rabies shot for cats and kittens over 3 months. Five free spay/neuters also offered each month. Appointments are scheduled at local participating veterinarians or at LSU Spay Day. To apply, request a low-income application by emailing caawsmail@yahoo.com or call 225-752-5801. 4. Cat Haven's Fix A Feline program offers a limited number of free spay/neuter certificates each month (max. 2/applicant). For owned/tame cats from low-income families only; no ferals or trapped cats. By getting your pet fixed, you’ll not only have a healthier and happier pet, and spare yourself the job of having to find homes for future litters… …You’ll be doing much more to help, because you are taking an effective step toward reducing the number of homeless animals in your area.
